Criminal elements

Why, why why do these things happen....

Woman stabbed on TTC bus

And... why do we never get follow up details?

I spend a good deal of time on the TTC, sometimes late at night alone. It's frightening. More time and effort should go into cause and prevention of our ever increasing violent society. Crime numbers might be down but the perpetrators make up for it in pure brazenness.

The average person and public transit user deserves to know what exactly is happening out there and why. And not the spiel we'll get about how it rarely happens. Back awhile ago a young woman was stabbed on the subway at Spadina station. It was the first ever subway stabbing. I read one alarming story about it and then it disappeared forever. We never did find out why it happened. It was buried under a PR spin about how, relative to many other cities, our transit system is safe. I don't buy it. I prefer to know the truth so I can make up my own mind about when and if to take transit.

World class city, world class problems.
